MEET SHEILA STEIS

Sheila Steis is the Founder, Director and Head Trainer of Selah East. Sheila has been deeply invested in the equestrian world since 1995 and has years of Youth, Amatuer and professional show experience world wide in show jumping, three day eventing, classical dressage and saddleseat/hunt seat. She has been mentored by icons in the industry including private instruction at the Spanish Riding School of Vienna. Sheila has additional and versed experience in Western Pleasure and Carriage/ Fine harness driving, and has also owned and operated the second largest breeding facility of Lipizzaners in North America from 2005-2009. She relocated to Florida for Junior Olympic training and to further her equestrian career while attending UCF. Sheila has additional and extensive experience with natural horsemanship (Parelli Method), extensive previous experience in ground and mounted equine therapy, is extremely versed in medical care of horses and was a Make A Wish partner and performer for Walt Disney World for several years Sheila is and always has been a major veteran and first responder advocate with future dreams of a Veteran program for both Veterans and also their families and dreams of combining that with her years of experience with mentally handicapped riding programs, and troubled youth riding programs. She is also co-founder of a non-profit  aimed at helping underprivileged youth attend riding lessons and summer camps at Selah East, and other farms in the surrounding area (Winnie’s Heart of Gold). She is a current board member of UPHA FL and GA chapter, and the current Young Professional Representation for the UPHA and ASHA for Florida, in addition, a current professional member of USEF, USHJA, NSBA, AMHA, ASHA, AHHA.
